Placement

CGC has established a dedicated Training & Placement Cell for enhancing the exposure of the students to the corporate world in terms of final placement as well as arranging summer internship for them and to act as an interface between the college and the Industry. It acts as a liaison between the industry leaders and our students. It is oriented to provide the best possible placements to our students in leading corporate houses/MNCs.

We have consistently maintained almost hundred percent recruitment records, and at times, our students exceed expectations of recruiters. It is the result of unrelenting, sustained effort with clear cut focus on all areas that contribute towards making our students ready to take on leadership responsibilities in their new roles. We have been consistently striving to provide best quality placements to all the students through the concerted efforts of the T&P Cell, faculty members, and alumni under the visionary leadership of the Management. The cell has developed very strong relationships with the doyens of the corporate world to facilitate the students in getting the real life exposure of the corporate world.

Most of our students are hand-picked as they go through a series of interviews and discussions before securing admissions. The students are constantly groomed to be top professionals and are regularly involved in executive education – exposing students to the right mix of theory and real world issues. The Industry rich curriculum is a perfect blend of short term projects, internships, live projects, workshops, seminars and guest lectures from industry experts and thought leaders to empower our students with practical knowledge and help them create new benchmarks.

The Training & Placement Cell is headed by a Dean who is supported by Senior Managers, Training & Placement Officers, T&P Coordinators from respective departments, T&P Assistants and Student Coordinators. These Officials identify the industry requirements and prepare the students accordingly by providing value addition programs, hold pre-placement discussions with corporate and invite them for recruitments.

The Team warmly invites the companies both private & public to be a part of the Placement Process at CGC college. Our students are ready to take on exciting challenges that the business world has to offer.

CGC in collaboration with the faculty, runs the highly successful Placement Selection Improvement (PSI) program that is intended to groom students for better placement and enhance their employability prospects.
Right from inception into the College, each student is closely monitored to ensure that there is a significant step-up in their overall personality and approach to their career, rather than a single-minded focus on grades alone.
The PSI program provides students a platform to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge of their domain and its application. In view of this, they are exposed to the basic requirements of selection at the time of interviews during campus placements and made aware of personality related aspects which companies expect in every aspirant. All new students are trained to add sheen to their personality and improve their communication and soft skills. Likewise, all the graduating batch students are given a comprehensive training capsule to refurbish/brush up their skills.

The PSI program is conducted for a period of seven days for all the graduating batches. The subjects covered include –
• Cv Writing
• Presentation Skills
• Extempore
• Group discussion
• Interview Skills
• Team Spirit
• Corporate Etiquette

The first five days are of interactive sessions to enhance students’ understanding of the demands of their respective domains, thereby, improving their employability in the market. The last two days are for the conduct of Group Discussions and Mock Interviews (GD/MI). Each panel for GD/MI consists of three interviewers i.e. a Domain Specific Professional, an HR professional and an internal coordinator. Each student is made to undergo three/four rounds of GD/MI. A detailed structured report is provided for all students to give them an insight of their personality, knowledge level and skills.
PSI helps students to understand and analyze their actual value in the market. They get an opportunity to be exposed to various aspects that require immediate attention. It enables them to prepare themselves well in advance in the areas which otherwise impede their chances of better placements.

Placement at CGC is a rigorous process that begins with the induction of the student in the college and culminates into a final job offer to the student. Various parameters are laid down for the students to be eligible to participate in placement and they have to formally register themselves for availing the on-campus/off-campus placement opportunities provided by the college. Students who do not register and not found fit on these parameters are not allowed to apply for any placement opportunity offered by the placement cell. The Training & Placement Cell takes care of multiple responsibilities to provide better training and placement opportunities to the students.

The process of placement can be summarized as under

Gap Identification & Skill Development –

The cell identifies the areas related to communication, personality, business etiquettes and effective decision making where students need to improve to get better placement opportunities. Skills required by different Industries are developed in students through regular training and development programs. The T&P cell keeps itself updated about the changing requirements of the corporate world and prepares the students accordingly to serve the industry professionally.

Grooming & Etiquette Training –

The students are exposed to this training to moderate their behavior to suit the modern society. Such trainings cover the importance of personal grooming, appropriate business dressing & dining etiquettes, verbal and non-verbal communication, telephonic & mailing etiquettes and general professional conduct.

Personality Development Program –

It all starts with the process of Personality Mapping – I, Me and Myself followed by Regular Personality Development programs conducted for the students to bring a positive change in their attitude, body language and personality.

Mock Interviews and Group Discussion –

Mock interviews and Group discussions are regularly organized by the panel of Experts to sharpen the communication skills of the students. This helps the students to improve their knowledge in diverse areas and communicate coherently.

Summer Training –

At the end of the first year, the students of MBA Full Time are required to undergo for the Summer Internship of 6-8 weeks during the months of June and July. Similarly, the MBA Executive students have to undergo “On the Job Training” for 3 months. The MCA students undertake six months technical Internship in their last semester where they work in a domain of their specialization. Our MJMC students take-up 4-6 weeks Internship program in media organizations of repute after the completion of their first academic year. Our Law students go for internships after completion of each semester. Our LLB, BALLB, BBALLB students take up a one long internship at the end of each semester.

The objective of Internship is to give students an opportunity to apply learnt techniques, develop sound decision making abilities and learn about organizational structure and culture.

Pre Placement Talk (PPT) –

The Pre-Placement Talk has been the standard practice to facilitate interaction between the industry and the students. The organizations participating in the placement process are requested to make a brief presentation about themselves, the opportunities and prospects ahead for the aspirants along with the detailed job description for the positions they wish to recruit for. In order to facilitate the process of PPT, the college provides the necessary support.

Final Placement –

The Campus Recruitment Program commences in the month of August and begins with filling up of the Training and Placement Assistance Form. A list of eligible students is taken out by the Department who are allowed to sit for the final placement process. The students then are geared up to deliver their best. In this regard, the major focus of the T&P Cell is on developing life skills in our students, regular corporate interactions, summer internships and final placements.

Life Skills –

The CGC programme goes far beyond developing communication skills. It seeks to make significant changes in the students’ sense of self-esteem & confidence, while inculcating ethics, introspection and values. As they develop into managers, they understand the value of being on time, every time. Leadership and Effective Decision Making is an essential attribute for the managers. Such interactions ensure that the academic content delivered at CGC is always in tune with industrial requirements. The college is driven by the philosophy that all teaching-learning processes in different areas of Management must be in sync with industrial practices.
